This page describes one of Xenopedia's policies and guidelines. All users are expected to follow policy, except where it would damage the wiki. If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please post them on the talk page. |
Weapon pages should focus on the fictional firearms from the series. Pages related to contemporary, real-world firearms are permitted, but should not be overly extensive or detailed as there are other places to find this information. This is an Alien, Predator and Alien vs. Predator wiki, not a gun wiki. That said, weapons are an important part of the franchise, and contemporary firearms often deserve a mention alongside the series' fictional aspects.
Pages relating to real weapons should mostly focus on pointing out their respective appearance(s) in the media of the series. A small amount of background information on the weapon's design, use and/or variants is allowed, but again, this should be no more than a brief summary.
Fictional Weapons
An exception to this policy is when dealing with fictional weapons that exist only within the franchise, such as the Lacrima 99 Shockrifle. In this case, the weapon's page should be as detailed as possible and can go into the technical specifications, construction and function of the weapon at length, as this information is specific to the franchise and will likely not be readily available elsewhere. It would also be appropriate to mention the real-world firearms, if any, that the fictional weapon was based on.
