The Wrist Shield, or simply the "shield", is a deployable device used by the Yautja. The shield, compared to the Yautja wielding it, is small, but durable and easily retractable when not in use. The device was able to withstand both blunt force, bladed weapons and even bullets from flintlock weapons, such as muskets and pistols. The device could also be used offensively, being sharp enough to slice through the neck of an enemy when activated at close range.
The Feral Predator utilized a Wrist Shield during his hunt in the Great Plains, using it to great effect against several French voyageurs that ambushed him.
Trivia[]
- Director Dan Trachtenberg has stated that the Predator's use of a Wrist Shield was largely inspired by the 2018 video game God of War, in which the protagonist Kratos employs the use of his own shield, Guardian Shield in a similar manner.[1][2]
- The concept revolving collapsible shield had been used prior to Kratos' Guardian Shield. Earlier examples include Wristwatch Shield from Riordan's novels and Temujin's Retractable Shield from Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel.
