The Weyland Storm Rifle was a technologically advanced rifle manufactured by Weyland Corp. Replete with sophisticated functions, the Storm Rifle gained widespread usage following a marketing hiccup, and was later used as the basis for the M41A Pulse Rifle.

Overview[]

Manufactured by Weyland Corp and designed to showcase the latest technology, the Weyland Storm Rifle was a fully automatic advanced assault weapon designed to fire armor–piercing rounds. A specialized sniper function enabled users to hit targets from up to five kilometers distant. In addition, the Storm Rifle also toted an underslung shotgun. As of 2186, the Weyland Storm Rifle was worth 3,000 United American dollars.[1]

History[]

The Weyland Storm Rifle was first released 150 years prior to 2186,[1] and produced at the Ouragan Testing Facility on the Outer Veil world of KOI-571.02.[2] Initially intended for limited release, a misread memorandum resulted in copies of the rifle being shipped to more than seven thousand colonial peacekeeping missions throughout the Weyland era.[1]

The Storm Rifle was retired at the beginning of the twenty–second century; however, while developing a successor to the United States Colonial Marine Corps Harrington Assault Rifle in 2170, Armat Battlefield Systems used the Weyland Storm Rifle as inspiration, leading to the creation of the M41A Pulse Rifle.[1] Thereabouts, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation developed the NSG23 Assault Rifle to replace the Storm Rifle.[2]

A Storm Rifle was kept in the quarters of Seegson employee Arthur Benton and his partner Leo at Hygieia Colony on the Outer Rim Territories moon of BG-791 as of 2187.[3]
