The Weyland EVA–7C Series Pressure Pod was an item of exploration equipment manufactured by Weyland Corp and later the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. The pod was equipped with engines, an airlock, storage pods, and an array of diggers and manipulators, as well as scanners employing a form of echolocation. Though originally designed for archaeology and research, the pod was also used for salvage, rescue, and mining operations. It could withstand up to 30,000 psi of pressure, making it ideal for navigating deep underwater and within the outer layers of a gas giant. However, moving the pod was achieved through the use of reaction control thrusters, rendering it unable to travel at speed. January Outpost, a colony located on the Far Spinward Colonies planet KOI-2020.01, used EVA pods for aquatic research.
