This grenade launcher is likely a lower caliber variant of the Armat U1 Grenade Launcher.

This grenade launcher is capable of launching at least two types ammunitions:
H34 Fragmentation Round: The most commonly used grenade round for this weapon. It consist into a 15mm miniature warhead propelled by gas; the rounds explode on surface impact with an effective explosive radius of two meters.
21S Arc Round: An non-lethal electrically charged shotgun slug that temporary paralize its target on impact.

- The grenade launcher in Aliens: Colonial Marines firing H34 and 21S rounds is visually identical to the U1 Grenade Launcher unit fitted to Pulse Rifles as standard. Given that the Colonial Marines Technical Manual states the U1 is capable of using a variety of ammunition types, it seems possible the name "H34 Fragmentation Round" or "21S Arc Round" launcher is simply a gameplay designation, and that the weapon is in fact a U1 loaded with a different ammo type. The fact this grenade launcher is named after ammunition it fires rather than having a specific designation (unlike the U1) further supports this theory.
- However this theory is kinda subverted by the caliber difference between the two. This grenade launcher fire 15mm ammunitions while the U1 Grenade Launcher fires 30×71mm projectiles.
- The WY GL is unlocked at Marine Level 3 alongside the NSG 23 Assault Rifle firing H34 Fragmentation Rounds, at Marine Level 5 alongside the MK221 Tactical Shotgun firing 21S Arc Rounds and Marine Level 15 still for the MK221 firing H34 Fragmentation Rounds.
