Stasis tubes made from W-Y Medgrade Tempurglass
W-Y Medgrade Tempurglass was a tough transparent material manufactured by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.
Overview[]
Stasis tubes,[1] used to contain Xenomorph facehuggers at the Hadley's Hope colony med lab on LV-426 in 2179, were made from W-Y Medgrade Tempurglass. Suspended in an alkaloid nahcolite solution, the remaining live specimens were unable to breach the tubes.
Behind the scenes[]
W-Y Medgrade Tempurglass first appeared in the 1986 film Aliens. While it is not specifically identified in the film itself, it is referred to as "glass" in the film's novelization, and was later named in the 2014 reference book Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report, written by S. D. Perry.
