- "Having your trophy claimed by the Valkyrie Predator was seen as a great honor and was believed to guarantee you passage to Valhalla. Many fought against her in search of glory, but none could best her."
- ―Description of the Valkyrie Predator (from Predator: Hunting Grounds)
The Valkyrie Predator was a female Yautja who conducted hunts during the Viking Age.[1]
Biography[]
Not much is known about the Valkryie Predator except that she was present during the Viking expansion throughout Europe. Like the Viking Predator, her attention was drawn to the ruthlessness of the Viking invaders, and they became subsequent targets for her. In turn, she became a thing of legend to the Northmen raiders, with many desiring to challenge her to worthy battles to guarantee a passage to Vallhalla. Regardless, none were able to best her.[1]
Equipment[]
- Bio-mask
- Cloak
- Wristblades
- Wrist gauntlet
- Norse Hammer
- Plasmacaster
The Valkyrie Predator possessed a typical Yautja assortment, including Wristblades, a Wrist gauntlet, a Cloak, and a Plasmacaster alongside her mighty Norse Hammer. Her armor featured metal plates with Celtic ornaments and chainmail while her bio-mask featured wing-like ornaments on each sides.[1]
Trivia[]
- The Valkyrie Predator was released alongside her Norse Hammer in the Valkyrie Predator DLC pack.
- She is named after the Valkyrie, minor Norse deities that wandered on battlefields taking dying Norse warriors and guide their soul either to Fólkvangr or Valhalla. They are often represented with a winged helmet and wings on their back.
- Valkyrie Predator's bio-mask resembles a Valkyrie's winged helmet.
- When her plasmacaster is out her shoulder plates are deployed like some tiny wings mimicking Valkyrie's wings.
- Like the Viking Predator she is not the first to have fought Vikings; the short story Skeld's Keep from the novel Predator: If It Bleeds features three blooded Predators named Ta'roga, Shriek and Kata'nu hunting Vikings in 820.
- Her Hammer is likely a reference to Mjöllnir, the hammer or Norse Thunder God Thor.
