Art of Alien Covenant[]

I have been part of a facebook Alien Prequel Fan Club group and Herrozzy who had created a video showcasing the art works which inspired the cinematography and juxtoposition of Alien: Covenant.

He asked for feedback on his video and I had decided to honestly critique it since I have a background in art.

Here's a transcription of my conversation with him: MU/TH/UR9000 Firstly I'd like to thank you for such an amazing video. Secondly I'd like to apologise for this. I hate to be that person but I am just nitpicky, I do love your video. I don't have the talent to create such a thing but here's my feedback.  The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci 1495–1498.There is no space between Da and Vinci. The date is incorrect. Terror Antiquus by Léon Bakst 1908. The accent is missing from é (I do love the timing of the juggernaut with the percussion, beautifully executed).  The Fall of Lucifer is actually titled Satan descends upon Earth You've misspelt Adam, and and was published in 1827, but I think the image is more reminiscent of Ricordi - Purgatorio, 1861 by Gustave Doré, from The Divine Comedy. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Gustave_Dor%C3%A9... Fourth image the date is actually 1861.  The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed in Sun(there are a series of these paintings so the name should reflect the one you are referring to), the date should be 1805 - 1810 A panther blocks Dante's way and was illustrated for the elephant folio edition in early 1861. Beatrice And Virgil is actually Beatrice bids Dante on 1861 https://commons.wikimedia.org/.../File:Inferno_Canto_2... Apocalyptic Procession also looks like Ludovico Ariosto’s “Orlando Furioso”. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Gustave_Dor%C3%A9... Dante and virgil among the envious looks more like Purgatory, the Fifth Terrace: the Avaracious and the Prodigal dated 1861. https://i.gr-assets.com/.../1379785002i/464403._SY540_.jpg Satan Presiding at the Infernal Council by John Martin is actually dated c.1823–27 but most places site 1824 as the date. Pandemonium by John Martin is actually dated 1824. Angels in the court of heaven also looks like Belshazzar’s Feast by John Martin 1835 or Seventh Plague by John Martin 1833 http://mfas3.s3.amazonaws.com/objects/C20158.jpg The Courts of God by John Martin dated 1824-1825. Dante and Virgil approaching the entrance to Hell by Gustave Doré 1861 Isle of the Dead: Third version by Arnold Böcklin 1883 since there are 5 versions I don't know I'd try to be specific. Ophelia by John Everett Millais dated 1851–1852 image 18 looks more like Lenoardo Da Vinci's David crossed with Fifth muscle-man by Andreas Vesalius 1543. https://nyamcenterforhistory.files.wordpress.com/.../vesa... The rout of the rebel angels(not sure if this is just a language lost in translation thing)actually titled The Casting of the Rebel Angels into Hell. image 20 is actually titled The souls of the just circling to form letters by Gustave Doré 1866. image 21 is actually titled The sparkling circles of the heavenly host by Gustave Doré 1866. image 22 is actually titled The rings of glowing souls by Gustave Doré 1866. image 23 looks reminicent of Michael Casts out all of the Fallen Angels by Gustave Doré 1866. The twentyfourth image is actually titled Dante and Beatrice gaze upon the highest Heaven by Gustave Doré 1867. The twentyfifth image is actually dated 1824-1827 Between Lovers Whirlwind and Rain of Fire 2 there is Dante sees the formation of a golden ladder and souls descending from the steps by Gustave Doré - Divine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri 1861 https://i.pinimg.com/.../2a9fa340c1a04c8ad6cc5b7157b19781... But I love art A LOT and romanticism eras. Please feel feel free to mention my tumblr blog because I love answering Alien related questions too. And my surname is actually Čarija. As far as I know he hasn't re-edited the video as yet, but I will keep you updated once he gets in touch with me again.

Since then I have done my own analysis and found paralells with the Divine Comedy and Comparative Mythology on which the prequels are based.

I will be adding to my blog a section on how the myths in Comparative Mythology have shaped the actions and characters chosen to drive the narative of creation and creator.
