Unlike my Out of the Shadows review, I'm going to keep this spoiler free because I got through it so quickly.

I liked this more than the previous book (the pointless Ripley presence really did bug me), and it was a very enjoyable read. I appreciated how it took some time to develop the world before hitting us with the Xenomorphs, I felt like Out of the Shadows threw us straight into the thick of it too quickly.

Perhaps the only major negative I took from it was that the second half was a little repetitive. Aliens attack, some people die, the rest move on, repeat, repeat, repeat. That exact scenario must have happened twenty times. It didn't really help that we don't really get to know any of the survivors beyond the three or four core players. Likewise, while I enjoyed Decker's mental connection with the Xenomorphs, it was a bit of a one-trick pony and never really led to anything more than him being able to tell when they were getting nearby.

Overall though, I enjoyed it quite a lot. There were quite a few really interesting bits of info on the wider Alien universe thrown in — I shan't spoil them here — which was good fun. If you read the last one, you should definitely give this a go.
