The USS Verloc was a Conestoga class light assault starship in service with the United States Colonial Marine Corps. It was deployed to LV-1201 to investigate a loss of communications with the Weyland-Yutani Primary Operations Complex on the planet.

It was manned by Marines under the command of Major McCain and served as the Marines' command center while investigating LV-1201. It housed at least two UD-4 "Cheyenne" Dropships, which the Marines used to travel to the planet's surface.

LV-1201 mission[]

After receiving a distress call from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, stating that they had lost contact with the Primary Operations Complex on LV-1201, the Verloc was deployed to investigate. However, they were short eight soldiers and their Synthetic after their last drop, and half of their equipment was out of commission. But were sent due to time pressure involved and wining the distance lottery.

Their superiors wanted the site intact, survivors or not. The Marines were cleared for light and medium munitions, but no heavy munitions. Meaning no air strikes and no Alice. Their orders were to put out fires, then dig in and wait for the 6th Battalion. Beta Section would remain on the Verloc until the ground position was secure.

Major McCain and a detachment of United States Colonial Marines were dispatched to the planet surface aboard two UD-4 "Cheyenne" Dropships, one of which was lost in the landing process. Unfortunately, the mission failed with extreme casualties.

Major McCain then sent a USCM Emergency Dispatch, reporting the failure of the mission, that the evacuation failed, recommended scrubbing further evac by the 6th Battalion, the small likelihood of finding survivors, and requested medical intercept ASAP.

The Verloc then departed with the Marine survivors, unknowingly pursued by Prince and his clan.

  • The Verloc continues the tradition of naming spacecraft in the Alien franchise after elements from Joseph Conrad novels — Adolf Verloc is a spy and the main character in the 1907 novel The Secret Agent.
