The USCSS Corbelan IV was a mining hauler spacecraft owned by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. An old ship by 2142, it featured a few mods, such as a newly installed airlock panel.[1]
History[]
In 2142, the shuttle was illegally used by a group of scavengers from Jackson's Star, to dock with the derelict Renaissance space station and steal Hypersleep chambers, for a trip to Yvaga III.
During a incident, a Chestburster began hatching from Navarro, causing her to kick the controls and crashed the Corbelan into a fuel tank and Romulus hanger bay 2, further destabilizing the station.
After narrowly escaping the Renaissance's destruction, the Offspring was born and killed Kay Harrison and damaged Andy, before Rain Carradine ejected it in the ship's cargo bed, killing it when the cargo bed crashed into the rings of LV-410.
Rain and Andy then entered Stasis, and set a course for Yvaga III.
Behind the scenes[]
Corbelan IV was named after a fictional character in Joseph Conrad's 1904 novel Nostromo (the name of which was used for the USCSS Nostromo in the 1979 film Alien). A number of other ships in the franchise were named after elements from Conrad's works as well, including the USS Sulaco (from Aliens), the USCSS Patna (from Alien 3), the USS Verloc (from Aliens versus Predator 2), the USS Marlow (from Aliens vs. Predator), and the USS Sephora (from Aliens: Colonial Marines), to name a few.
The ship was built as a physical model by Pro Machina with Ian Hunter [2], and then scanned to create a CG version.[3]
