The Type 95 Combat Pistol was a high–caliber pistol manufactured by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and employed by the Three World Empire, United Americas, and the United States Colonial Marine Corps during the 22nd century.
Development[]
The Type 95 Combat Pistol was developed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation with the intent of providing a handcannon that behaved like a sidearm. In the 2170s, Weyland–Yutani's Eastern Division experimented with nano–manufactured plastics with exceptional material properties as used in the older Type 70, which was reliable and durable but also very expensive. Weyland–Yutani's investments in material technologies reduced the requisite costs, and the Type 95 was fashioned from incorporated modern ceramic metamaterials.[1]
Overview[]
The Type 95 Combat Pistol fired high–caliber ammunition and boasted a higher rate of fire and less recoil than a typical handcannon, but packed less stopping power. The Type 95 was also said to be "pratically unjammable" and extremely durable; during a tech demo given to the United States Colonial Marine Corps, a Type 95 was dropped from orbit, impacted the ground, and was successfully fired afterward.[1]
Notable users[]
Originally released in 2195 for the Three World Empire's Royal Marines Commandos, the Type 95 Combat Pistol was also used by their national services. It also saw success among the Colonial Marines, as well as United Americas and private military contractors.[1] The elite United Systems synthetic taskforce dubbed Steel Team also made use of the Type 95.
