The Type 76 Auto Shotgun was an automatic shotgun manufactured by Weyland-Yutani Corporation. It was notably employed by Weyland-Yutani and the United States Colonial Marine Corps during the 22nd century.[1]

Overview[]
The Type 76 fired 12-gauge buckshot shells. The Type 76 boasted serious stopping power as well as a large magazine, quick reload speed, and automatic fire. However, the gun was unsuitable for zero-gee use due to its tremendous recoil, and the heat from ejected shells posed a potential threat to the wielder's allies. The Type 76's ability to shred everything in front of it proved popular with the Colonial Marines, and the weapon was regarded as "vicious" for its utility for suppressing riots.[1]

Originally released in 2176 exclusively for Weyland-Yutani's Corporate Security and Dog Catchers, the Type 76 saw a surge in popularity with the Colonial Marines in the late 2180s due to the Xenomorph threat. After being assigned to the Colonial Marines, the shotgun was brought into general use, being used by various corporate security, private military contractors and colonial militias.[1]
