The Type 21 Tactical Shotgun was a tactical shotgun manufactured by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and used by the United Americas, the Office of the Colonial Marshals, and the United States Colonial Marine Corps during the 22nd century.
Development[]
The Type 21 Tactical Shotgun was built by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and modified from an early design to replace the single–fed tube with a box–magazine to optimize reload time. While the gun was designed for sport, target, or fowl shooting, Weyland–Yutani gave the Type 21 a military appearance. An optional "smart–targeting" software was released for the Type 21, auto–adjusting the gun's ballistics for improved accuracy on horseback.[1]

The Type 21 was slightly more accurate, more effective at long range, and boasted a more controllable recoil than most shotguns. During the Helene 215 Uprising in the early 2150s, the United States Colonial Marine Corps took advantage of the Type 21's fowl–shooting attributes to take down tactical UAVs in the planet's dense jungle using piezoelectric ammunition.[1]

Originally released in 2121 for the civilian market, the Type 21 was also used by the Colonial Marines, the Office of the Colonial Marshals, national services of the United Americas, private military contractors, and local law enforcement agencies. Weyland&ndaah;Yutani also armed their Synth Troopers with the Type 21.[1]

The Type 21 Tactical Shotgun appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite and can be acquired via a random drop by finishing a mission on Standard difficulty. It can be equipped by Gunner, Technician, Phalanx, Recon, and Lancer classes.[1]
