Trono was a Human terraforming colony on LV-871. When the terraforming failed to take and the resultant subsidies dried up, Weyland-Yutani offered enough funding to ensure the survival of the colony for years to come in exchange for on-site bio-storage, which ultimately led to the colony's destruction.

Overview[]

The colony consisted of a sprawl of multi-story modular buildings, with narrow streets through which private and cargo vehicles were able to move.[1] There were multiple apartments on the upper levels, including Anne and Maxon Cregar's home, which was equipped with a garage on the ground level. The settlement's spaceport east access was located on Bristol Street, several blocks near Spring Street. An impound yard was located near the port's west access.[2]

History[]

After terraforming of the planet failed and subsidies were lost, the colonial government did what they had to to ensure the survival of the colony. Weyland-Yutani Corporation was willing to offer enough funding to keep the colony running for years, so they accepted the company's proviso that the Terraforming stations be turned into bio-storage facilities for Xenomorph specimens.[3] At some point, there was a breach in containment in the biostorage facilities, starting an outbreak in the colony. The engineers working in a bridge station near the former terraforming facility destroyed the bridge linking it to the main colony in a vain attempt to contain the creatures.[4]

According to an unnamed construction worker, the creatures appeared from nowhere and invaded the impound lot near the spaceport's west access; the xenomorphs emerged from the designer's pigs which were stored in the impound after their owner had been unable to sell them.[5] Weyland-Yutani sent a Code Yellow through the Net, requesting colonists to report emergency coordination zone 5 for evacuation.[1]

Thirty six hours after the initial outbreak,[6] two of the last three evacuation shuttles had already made it to the orbiting ship USS Carver; the last shuttle, Trono Evac Seven, was waiting for three last stragglers: assistant administrator Waugh and civilian Anne and Maxon Cregar. Other survivors already aboard the evacuation craft were Sinta, the construction worker, an unnamed civilian, Roman, and his wife.
