The Torin Prime Civil War was a conflict that took place on the world of Torin Prime in 2106.
History[]
Insurgency[]
Following the formation of the United Americas in 2104, of which Paraguay was now a part, Torin Prime refused to comply with new colonial laws. In 2106, a rebel faction dubbed the J'har released a manifesto of terror, and took control of most of Torin Prime's key energy production facilities. The J'har also seized the planet's main colonies, murdered planetside officials, and killed or imprisoned any UA loyalists in concentration camps. These camps also served as J'har headquarters, using the prisoners as human shields to protect the organization's leadership.[1]
Counter–rebellion[]
The United Americas Allied Command feared that the J'har insurgency would encourage rebellions in other colonies, and the United Americas was left with no choice but to make an example of Torin Prime. The UAAC was confident in the United Americas loyalists that escaped the J'har and started a counter–rebellion; however the civil war expanded into space after the J'har seized a flotilla of warships, which forced the United Americas Outer Rim Defense Fleet to intervene.[2] Both Dennis Parker and Arthur Dallas fought for the United Americas. Dallas served in United Americas Outer Rim Defense Fleet as a pilot on the UAS Leviathan (out of Liberty Echo) and received the Sunburst Medal of Honor. Parker was captured by J'har rebels during the conflict and imprisoned at Concentration Camp GR-161 on August 1, 2107. He escaped on February 21, 2108 during the liberation of Torin Prime by constructing an EEV from scrap. Following the liberation, Dallas was promoted to Captain, and Parker received an honorable discharge and returned to Earth.[3] The conflict took two years to resolve, but in the process it cemented the United Americas' status as a powerful nation among the stars.[2]
Dissent sowed[]
Critically, however, the length of time taken to quell the revolt made the United Americas appear weak in the eyes of others, leading Germany, Spain, and Russia to create the Union of Progressive Peoples, supported by the Chinese/Asian Nations Cooperative. The Torin Prime revolt coupled with the 2109 disaster on Thedus also prompted the United Americas to create the Extrasolar Colonization Administration and the Office of the Colonial Marshals to prevent any civil unrest that could lead to another civil war.[4]
The new rebellion[]
Torin Prime suffered heavy sanctions, and the government was prohibited from having an army and forced to rely on direct protection from the UAAC. Even nearly eighty years after the failed secession from the United Americas, the inhabitants of Torin Prime felt that it was a police state. By 2183, some intelligence reports suggested that the J'Har were resurgent and secretly organizing a coup; this rebellion was rumored to be reinforced by the Union of Progressive Peoples and to have designs on retaking Torin Prime and even conquering the entire Tartarus Sector.[5]
