The Tokarev TT-33 is a Soviet-made semi-automatic pistol chambered for the 7.62×25mm Tokarev cartridge. It was developed in the early 1930s by Fedor Tokarev as a service pistol for the Soviet military, to replace the Nagant M1895 revolver that had been in use since Tsarist times, although it ended up being used in conjunction with rather than replacing the M1895. It served until 1952, when it was replaced by the Makarov pistol.

Overview

The TT-33 was developed in the early 1930s by Fedor Tokarev as a service pistol for the Soviet military. Internally, its design is actually very similar to that of the Colt M1911. The TT-33 was issued to the Soviet Army during WWII, chiefly to officers. Able to withstand tremendous abuse, large numbers of the TT-33 were produced during World War II and well into the 1950s.

Notable Users

Nikolai Fedorov carried a TT-33 as his sidearm on the Game Preserve Planet.

Trivia

  • While not technically impossible for a Spetsnaz soldier to be carrying a TT-33, the use of the weapon in Predators is at best incredibly unlikely as the weapon was phased out of Russian service after the Second World War. A Makarov or MP-443 Grach would be more appropriate, both being actual sidearms issued to regular and special forces of the Russian army.
