The Union of Progressive People's Army, or UPPA, was the basic military force of the Union of Progressive Peoples and part of the UPP Armed Collective. UPP citizens were required to serve in the UPPA, and thus the Army was comprised of heavily-armed civilians serving out of obligation. As a result, UPPA soldiers were barely trained and quick to surrender, though these shortcomings were ameliorated by the UPPA's sheer numbers and tight organization.
