"The Alpha is your legacy at the company. That's the only reason you're not in prison right now. Try bringing Danny back without it, you'll both spend the rest of your lives in prison for corporate terrorism. Once you've got it? Sure, save Danny too, if you can. We're not monsters. But the work you did with the Alpha is gonna save the world someday."
Ted Reynolds to Gabriel Cruz (from Alien: Bloodlines)

Director Ted Reynolds was a Weyland-Yutani executive and commander of Epsilon Station.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Reynolds originally served as a Weyland-Yutani Defence Agent. Agent Sears noted that Reynolds was originally assigned to accompany Gabriel Cruz's squad to investigate the Hadley, but after being 'stricken with illness', the Company pulled Sears' leave and assigned him instead in Reynold's wake.[1] Cruz and his squad were subsequently exposed to a Xenomorph infestation upon boarding the Hadley, and all but the latter were killed in the operation. In reality, Ted was fully aware of the Xenomorph presence aboard the Hadley, essentially sending his comrades off as human guinea pigs to serve as hosts for Xenos.

Cruz was the sole survivor of the mission, and he narrowly escaped death after he had a Chestburster impregnated inside of him surgically removed upon arriving at Epsilon, the resultant creature going on to be the Alpha.

Serving the Company[]

"When the lab was breached, my quarters pod auto-launched. Everybody else is still up there. Everything in that lab, Gabe...Every subject, every embryo, every egg we brought to term...It's all wide open."

Ted giving his speech

Twenty years following the operation, Ted had acquired a senior position within Weyland-Yutani as Director aboard Epsilon Station. With Gabriel Cruz forced to retire from service aboard the station following emerging medical diagnostics, Ted hosted a going away party for him, in which he gave a speech commending Cruz's efforts and his contributions to the Company.

Several days later, Cruz's son, Danny, infiltrated Epsilon alongside members of the extremist group, the Minute Hand Movement and managed to access the complex's biolabs, causing the station to plunge into chaos and culminating in a Xenomorph infestation. After the lab was breached, Ted's quarters pod auto-launched, and returned to Earth to safety.

He subsequently travelled to Cruz's apartment and called him at 5:25am, requesting to be let in. Inside, though he attempted to initiate small-talk, Cruz's dismissiveness resulted in Ted getting to the point; he informed him that Danny had infiltrated the station using his security card, and that Cruz was to return to the station and retrieve the Alpha's embryo, lest he face life imprisonment for corporate terrorism. Cruz requested five Combat Androids to accompany him, and that upon bringing Danny back, he would be granted full immunity in court. Ted denied Cruz his synthetics, instead assigning him two human Wey-Yu Defence Agents - Hamilton and Lewandowski.

Betraying Cruz[]

"I've been watching your progress, Gabe. You know the embryo won't survive this early an extraction."
"Yeah, and without a hypersleep tube, Danny's dead. Are you really asking what I think you're --?"
"No, i'm not. I'm not asking at all.

Events would entail Cruz, a Bishop-model android and a facehugged Danny as the sole survivors. Monitoring their progress, Ted learned that Cruz intended to have Bishop perform a manual surgery on Danny and save him from a gruesome death. However, Ted contacted Cruz on a terminal. Despite knowing Danny since he was a child, Ted blackmailed Cruz and stated that if they attempted remove the embryo, he would remote lock their pod and deliberately initiate a fall from orbit, killing him and Bishop. Conversely, if he left Danny as he was, he would receive full immunity, be compensated handsomely and receive "the undying gratitude of the company." Cruz angrily rejected Ted's blackmail, before asking him if he knew all along about the Xenomorph presence aboard the Hadley prior to their mission. Ted hesitated, before signing off and disabling the station's engines.

Danny's surgery was ultimately a success, denying the Company their live asset.

Personality and Traits[]

Ted presented himself with a charming joviality amongst the public. However, when issues arose within Epsilon, his true personality emerged as a typical cold corporate suit, more concerned over company interests than human life.

It was revealed that Ted's moral depravity was deeply rooted, as he had known about the Xenomorph outbreak aboard the Hadley twenty years prior to the Epsilon incident; he knew full well that his comrades were being sent to the ship with the purpose of serving as Xenomorph hosts. He was also fully intent on allowing an impregnated Danny to be killed so that the company could procure a Xeno specimen, despite knowing Danny since he was a child.
