"If there is an ass end of space, this is it."
―(from Colonial Marines Operations Manual)

Tanburro Station, also known as Misery, was a United States Colonial Marine Corps space station orbiting the planet Myssa 340 in the 78 Nu Ceti System.[2] It was one of the remotest Marine garrisons, if not the most remote.[1]

Overview[]

Tanburro Station was a pile of antennae and dishes, while the station interior was an endless maze of maintenance ducts and machine rooms that fell into a state of disrepair over the years. Originally built to accomodate two hundred Marines, Tanburro's personnel complements over the years ranged from fifty marines to a mere two, with personnel and resupply runs arriving only once every two years. Personnel based on Tanburro tended to suffer from poor mental health due to loneliness and lack of action, with no notable occurrences on the station other than recurring problems with its plumbing. As such, the station earned the nickname of "Misery".[1]

History[]

Tanburro Station was originally established in 2124 for attempted communication with several lost colonization expeditions after the establishment of the 20 Parsec Limit. Although the station detected little early on,[1] it eventually intercepted messages from one of those lost expeditions: the Weyland-Yutani Corporation colony ship USCSS Covenant. Sent by rogue synthetic David to Weyland–Yutani, the messages consisted of information gleaned from David's experiments surrounding a mysterious alien pathogen, and led to the creation of the clandestine cabal known as Deep Void.[3]
