The Tanakan Scorpionid is a huge arthropod native to the planet Tanaka 5.[1]
Characteristics[]
Having more in common with Earth's prehistoric sea scorpions than actual scorpions, the Tanakan Scorpionid possesses a rounded head, a set of large pincers, eight crab-like legs, two large fin-like structures on either side of their bodies and stinger tail filled with deadly venom. Their shells can protect them from melee attacks but are pretty weak against ballistic damage, their pincers are strong enough to break a man’s leg, their fins first thought to be utilized in intimidation display make them actually excellent swimmers and their sting can kill a grown human quickly unless an antidote is administered.[1]
The Tanakan Scorpionids are nocturnal creatures, they usually live either in the desert or the planet's cavernous springs. They hide in dunes and rocks during the day and usually hunts at night either on ground or water. The scorpionids are a pretty timid creature and won't fight unless there's a good reason however if provoked they'll aggressively attack whatever threatens them using mainly their claws and stinger.[1]
The Tanakan Scorpionids are hunted for their venom used for a multitude of medicinal purposes[1] or for food their thorax boiled is a renowned meal on Bracken's World.[2]
