Tan Blatchman was an inspector in the employ of the Interstellar Commerce Commission and a crewmember aboard the United Nations Interstellar Settlement Corps vessel UNCSS Solovetsky Island. In 2186, Blatchman took part in the UNISC's Great Mother Mission.
Biography[]
An inspector employed by the Interstellar Commerce Commission, Tan Blatchman joined the crew of the United Nations Interstellar Settlement Corps exploratory vessel UNCSS Solovetsky Island. As of 2182, the Solovetsky Island was attached to the colony ship UNCSS Ìyánlá as part of the UNISC's Great Mother Mission to reestablish contact with the long–lost Far Spinward Colonies.[1]
During the mission in 2186, Blatchman accompanied an expedition to Gorham's Colony on the planet KOI-2650.01 so as to observe the crew's adherence to ICC protocols. At some point, Blatchman placed restrictions on any valuable finds discovered, causing security officer Hamidah Amir to a have a crisis of conscience.[1]
Personality and traits[]
Manipulative and observant, Tan Blatchman was unswervingly loyal to the ICC, and felt resentment towards commercial concerns such as the Weyland-Yutani Corporation for their disregard of ICC rules and general immunity from prosecution. Blatchman was also determined that the crew of the Solovetsky Island follow regulations to the letter, regardless of any objections.[1]
Equipment[]
Blatchman wore expedition fatigues featuring ICC branding, and carried a Seegson System Diagnostic Device and electronic tools.[1]
Skills and abilities[]
Blatchman was able to take command and stay under the radar, and was skilled in close combat. He was also a capable comtech.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Tan Blatchman appears as a non–player character during the campaign in Alien: The Roleplaying Game — Building Better Worlds, and features in the first mission, "Home Sweet Home". It is entirely possible for the players to abandon Blatchman and leave him for dead during the mission if so desired, as he cannot adequately defend himself from any threats. The event "Quarantine is Not a Dirty Word" revolves around Blatchman; how the event affects the overall campaign is dependent on player actions.[1]
