Ammo-Related Malfunction

Okay, now if the M41A is (in-universe) chambered for caseless ammunition, ammo-related malfunction would be virtually, if not completely, nonexistent. Reason for that being that the projectile is entirely self-contained within the propellant, which burns up when the round is ignited. As a result, there's no empty casings to eject, no ejection port on the weapon, no extractor, etc.. Meaning there's nothing that can jam. Ghost Leader

It could be they limit the magazine size to 95 because the bolt would wear out if it fired 99 rounds continuously

Not likely. If that were the case, the bolt would wear out after firing 99 rounds regardless of whether they were fired off all at once or one round a day for 99 days. Ghost Leader (talk) (Contribs) 09:01, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

m41a/2 pulse rifle vs 59/b smartgun

hi my name is nathan and i prefer the m41a/2 pulse rifle while playing alien vs predator on xbox 360

My cousin says that the m59/b smartgun is better than the m41a/2 pulse rifle because it has auto targeting and you know what he his is not right. he says

"smartgun has the power to rip the alien to shreds"

Out of the aliens it is truly the most powerful weapon In the game" thx Sincerly Nathan

If anyone wants info on avp2 contact me on iam curently single

p.s the guns are real and can be bought from america at the price value of $1000 dollars. Its the real deal contact through me and you will have your gun within 10 working days. You dont even have to have id to buy one.

No offense, but you really shouldn't be offering no-questions-asked straw sales of firearms over the Internet to anonymous people. And you very much do need an ID to buy a firearm. As for the issue of pulse rifle vs smartgun, just chalk it up to differing play style and opinion and move on with your life. Ghost Leader (talk) (Contribs) 12:44, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

Template Category

Why is the M41A in the template category, Also shouldn't M41A Pulse Rifle be capitailzed in Hicks' quote? --Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 21:47, July 27, 2013 (UTC)

I've often wondered that, but I'm not sure why it's in that category. "Template" isn't listed in the categories box on the page. I've tried to remove it before, but I can't seem to do it.--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 08:29, July 29, 2013 (UTC)
You know what? I think it's a problem with one of the templates not using the noinclude thing. Must be a template only used here. I'll check tomorrow.--Toa Quarax (Talk) (Contribs) 04:12, January 13, 2014 (UTC)

The T-shirt M41A

I'm really not sure about the M41A on Frost's t-shirt being the original MP5-based design. Do we have any proof of this? To me it just looks like a slightly badly-drawn rendition of the final design we got in the movie.--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 08:03, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

The stock on the weapon appears to be based on an MP5's and it also looks like there is an MP5 sight below the carrying handle. Also on the side of the Pulse Rifle there are lines sticking out which the MP5 also has and the top of the base gun appears to also be round like an MP5 whereas the Thompson is flat on the top. Also On the discussion page for Aliens on IMFDb David says "The original plan was to use an MP5 for the Pulse Rifle, but James Cameron didn't like the muzzle flash. The Thompson gave the look he wanted. I haven't seen the movie in years, but one of the Marines is suppose to be wearing a t shirt with the MP5 Pulse Rifle on it. The dvd extras has a drawing of the MP5 Pulse Rifle."--Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 18:28, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I can see the similarities, but do we have any PROOF? The weapon on the t-shirt could just as easily be a not-very-accurate caricature of the Thompson-based gun in the film. Do you know where in the DVD special features the original drawing is seen? I don't ever remember seeing it.--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 17:43, August 31, 2013 (UTC)
Just checked the DVD and the drawing is found in the Marine Weaponry section in the Gallery. It's pretty much the exact same picture as the one on Frost's T-shirt with a magazine from it below the Pulse Rifle.--Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 02:02, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

U1 Grenade Launcher

The U1 is on the M41A MK2 in ACM, but if you ask me it's not the same as the launcher on the original M41A from the movie. Chiefly, the whole rifle in the movie (including its grenade launcher) seems to be noticeably larger than the gun in the game, and the grenade launcher's appearance is slightly different (note the green pump handle in the game, compared to the black one in the film). Plus, the Tech Manual makes it clear the grenade launcher on the original M41A is not detachable, unlike the U1. Unless we have a clear source stating the U1 is on the M41A, I say it's a bit of a leap to claim that's the case.--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 07:41, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah I noticed that the two are pretty different, but The M4RA's U1 model in-game is the exact same as the one used by Hudson's PR and Ripley's PR (except that the trigger guard is integrated into the magazine with the two M41As).--Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 15:03, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, OK. I'll revert the changes I made then. I remember the pump handle being a totally different colour on the MK2!--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 15:30, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

New info in Behind the Scenes

I've fiddled with the info in the Behind the Scenes section to reduce repetition and cut out things I've found were wrong (even if they were sourced). For example, the Pulse Rifle did not feature in a Transvision Vamp music video, it was only used in an image on the cover of one of their singles (image added to gallery). I also have a source for the weapons pictured in Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual being from the Alien War attraction, but I don't have the book with me to get the page reference. I'll add it once I do.--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 08:27, October 10, 2013 (UTC)

Found this which I think is the from the book you were sourcing.--Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 15:31, October 10, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, that was what I was using, but the source I still need is in the Tech Manual itself. I know the info's there, I just need to look up the page number when I get home!--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 15:55, October 10, 2013 (UTC)
Is it this from the Acknowledgements section on page 160 "Lawrence Nathan - for the loan of his working pulse rifle, smart gun sight, grenades and motion tracker."?--Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 18:38, October 10, 2013 (UTC)
Well, I've looked again at the acknowledgements section and there are some references to an Alien War photoshoot, but I remembered reading something specific about the photos being taken at Alien War using their props. It must not have been in the book, but I can't remember where else it might've been :S --Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 18:50, October 10, 2013 (UTC)
I found this too on it has some stuff about the strange 10 vent hole PR. Also found this with some stuff from Arming the Corps Also are you sure that the articles was published in 1999?--Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 19:59, October 10, 2013 (UTC)
That second link is actually what I used for referencing the magazine yesterday! That first link is interesting though, seems to claim more than one practical Pulse Rifle was spared when the weapons were broken up. That's the first I've heard of that, I always thought it was just the hero gun that was left in one piece.--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 09:11, October 11, 2013 (UTC)
There's a video from the Prop Store with one of the Thompson only Pulse Rifles

Delta and Other Pulse Rifle Info

Just found this this and this --Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 10:08, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

Doesn't seem to include much new info (except that I got the date of the FX magazine article wrong, oops :D ). Although the list of replicas is nice. Doesn't seem to be complete though. The HCG replica isn't mentioned, and also I found a hand-made one by a company called Movie Guns Inc. (who also make replicas of the USCM armour and helmet, welder and even a Smartgun!).--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 10:36, October 17, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah it thought the date might have been wrong because they mentioned Gladiator in the magazine. I thought it would be useful because I was wondering what the Pulse Rifle in the magazine was and according to the site its the Delta one. There's also an "Original 2" nylon webbing strap used on pulse rifles." so I'm guessing its a prop from the film. I think the list stopped getting updated a few years ago which is why it isn't complete (the earliest entry on the Way Back Machine is in 2005 so the site is pretty old).--Toa Quarax (talk) (Contribs) 15:17, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

[1] I'm also pretty sure this video is with MAX.--Toa Quarax (Talk) (Contribs) 19:43, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

Please where can I please purchase this product. I love the mega pulse rifle it would be a dream come true

I am looking into building a gas blowback airsoft version of the pulse rifle, now I'm aware there was once upon a time a kit that could be bolted onto an electric thomson machine gun but I am seeking to do a build using a gbb version. My problem here is this - does anyone have a prop that they could send me measurements of the outer pieces or a more detailed schematic?

Any help will be much appreciated, I can be contacted at
