The Wikipedia article for Covenant states that Daniels' first name is Janet; do we have an official source for that? OtterSurf(talk) (Contribs) 09:32, October 12, 2018 (UTC)
Not as far as I know, we will try to look for one. I too have saw the name on wikipedia and it was added by an unreg and they did not have a source for it. The only "ssource" I saw was an interview but "Janet" is never brought up, she is just Daniels. --The Cruentus(Talk) 10:23, October 12, 2018 (UTC)
First I've heard of it, but I'll admit I'm not massively clued up on the various Covenant merch. It's definitely not in the film's novelisation. I take it Wikipedia doesn't give a source?--LEIGH BURNE(Talk) 08:55, October 17, 2018 (UTC)
Problem there though is that it got a lot of other character's first names wrong. Or at least they were retconned.--The Cruentus(Talk) 12:05, October 12, 2018 (UTC)
True, though I'd say that's the best info on a first name we have. I haven't been able to find anything related to the "Janet" name. --The Creature Slayer(talk) (Contribs) 12:38, October 12, 2018 (UTC)
Dammit Janet[]
The film doesn't name her as Janet.
The screenplay doesn't name her as Janet.
The Blu-ray special features don't name her as Janet.
The novelization doesn't name her as Janet.
The prequel novel doesn't name her as Janet.
'The Art and Making of Alien: Covenant' doesn't name her as Janet.
The official 'Behind the Scenes' magazine doesn't name her as Janet.
The action figure packaging doesn't name her as Janet.
The packaging of the Funkopop figure doesn't name her as Janet.
The Phobos short film gives her initial as R.
'The Augmented Reality Survival Guide' calls her Katherine (although that seems to be following S.D. Perry's convention of using the actor's first name where one doesn't otherwise exist: 'William Hudson', 'Jenette Vasquez' etc).
In short, her name isn't Janet - it's just fan nonsense. The only 'source' anyone lists is a catalogue entry for the Funkopop figure, but that post-dates the name being on wiki sites, meaning whatever staffer wrote the catalogue entry almost certainly turned up the name from a wiki. Likewise, any other random blog where 'Janet' shows up has simply picked up the name from wikis. This is an example of that circular thing where fandom decides something bogus, someone else uses it in good faith, and fandom then uses that as a source. Unless there's a genuine, definitive source for 'Janet' that I'm not finding, it should just be left as 'Daniels' here - in the way that it's just Ricks, Ledward, Cole etc. - and the page redirected. I've edited the text of the page but I don't know how to redirect. ElectricWarlock(talk) (Contribs) 15:29, February 6, 2019 (UTC)
Had to rollback your edits, not because of any factual error but because the page got messed up, most of the history logs disappeared and too many redirects were left. --The Cruentus(Talk) 04:36, February 7, 2019 (UTC)
Fair enough - apologies for making a mess! The point stands though - this Janet stuff is stupid and needs to go. Janet Shmanet. ElectricWarlock(talk) (Contribs) 08:17, February 7, 2019 (UTC)
Surely if the the Augmented Reality Survival Guide calls her Katherine, we should go with that? It's an officially licenced product that gives her a first name.--LEIGH BURNE(Talk) 14:11, February 8, 2019 (UTC)
Author bio says he's on Twitter as @FlexibleHead. I'm not on there, but maybe it's worth somebody asking him about it? ElectricWarlock(talk) (Contribs) 23:15, February 8, 2019 (UTC)
