Hey it's a real thing, kind of...[]

XYY Syndrome on Wikipedia. This link takes you to the Alien 3 mention, as well as other fictional portrayals of "double-Y chromos". In reality, the presence of an extra chromosome has nothing to do with a predisposition for rape and murder, it's just one of those cool pieces of misinformation that writers sometimes tap into. Wonder who contributed that? Was it Vincent Ward or someone else? So why would the warden say it if it's not true? Some ideas for an in-universe explanation: 1) He's a warden, not a geneticist. 2) Misconceptions and assumptions have a way of popping back up after they've been dispelled, especially if it furthers the interests of politicians or corporations. Since Weyland-Yutani owns the prison, maybe public belief in the XYY stereotype was a useful tool. (Rounding up free labor, maybe?)---CadmiumX99 05:19, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, no doubt at all that Ward & the other writers took a few liberties w/the syndrome itself! Perhaps I or we can come up with a way to express that w/out being, say, insensitive to those who really have the condition. Think about it, I will too. Quiscustodiet 13:16, August 18, 2010 (UTC)
