Chronology[]
The sentence "why he is no longer present when Hicks and Newt return there at the end of Aliens: Nightmare Asylum" (referring to the Engineer) is not correct. In fact, in this story it is stated that Ripley destroyed several xenomorphs by luring them to the Dr. Orona's mountain of bombs. This happened at the end of Earth/Female War, therefore the short story The Alien does NOT take place between Outbreak and Nightmare Asylum, but after both of them AND after Earth/Female War as well.
