Shovel-heads were avian animals native to the Union of Progressive Peoples-controlled mining planet Shānmén.

Characteristics[]

These five-meter-high birds stood can be found in groups and use their hooked beaks and long, purple, barbed tongues to strip limbs from trees and trample them beneath their massive, taloned feet. The tall and muscular creatures have a thick coat of moss-green feathers. They also have an impressive bone crest that runs from the top of their skull, between the eyes, and curves around their beak-like armor.[1]

Behavior[]

They’re not predators, but they’re still dangerous and could take down a security fence. When threatened, Shovel-heads will clumped together in a circle, ready to strike at attackers to defend themselves. If given the opportunity to escape, Shevels will let out a bellowing call and charged away from attackers, not attempting to dodge anything, just lowering their heads and bowling right through trees, bushes, and any animals unfortunate enough to be in the way.[1]
