The Shiname Maru was a transport ship carrying terraforming equipment to a colony world. The vessel came under attack by a biomechanical alien creature that began consuming it; a United States Colonial Marine Corps taskforce was able to board the Shiname Maru and jettison the terraforming module before it could be absorbed by the lifeform.
