Weyland-Yutani Security Synths were a model of Combat Android employed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

They were encountered by a Fireteam of Colonial Marines on the planet LV-895, controlled by the rogue A.I. SN/TH/YA.

Characteristics and Traits[]

Security Synths sport white skin with a metallic exterior, and are armed with Weyland-Yutani's latest arsenal of deadly firearms. They speak with a hoarse tone to their voice.

Gameplay[]

Unlike other enemies within Fireteam Elite, Security Synths are equipped with ranged weapons and various other firearms, forcing players to employ a more 'cover-based' approach to combat if they are to survive. Security Synths are also hostile to Xenomorphs, and will attack them on sight - Xenos can serve as a decent distraction for the androids, granted that players are not caught in the crossfire. Players should be wary that some Security Synths, upon death, will begin violently malfunctioning, before exploding, dealing heavy damage to those within the vicinity. Security Synths come in various forms and models:

Synth Trooper[]

A typical grunt synthetic, they are equipped with the Type 21 Tactical Shotguns and tend to take cover when engaging players but will try to attack at close range.

Synth Guard[]

A slightly more resistant variant of the Synth Trooper, they are usually equipped with the L36 Halberd and tend to take cover when engaging players.

Containment Synth[]

Wielding a Stun Baton and a riot shield to block gunfire, Containment Synths will rush players and attack them up close.

Synth Warden[]

Sporting a baseball cap, Synth Wardens are more durable than Guards, they are equipped with the L36 Halberd but will fire it in 3-round bursts and can throw grenades at players. A variant called Overcharged Warden appeared in the last mission of Giants In The Earth, the only difference being that they drop power cores required for some objectives.

Synth Detonators[]

Mangled and headless, Synth Detonators will recklessly charge towards players and explode, dealing heavy damage.

Synth Sniper[]

Armed with an unknown type Weyland-Yutani built sniper rifle, Synth Snipers are sub-bosses that will remain afar from the battlefield and pick off Marines from a distance, when too close to an enemy, they will attempt to retreat throwing smoke grenades to find a better spot.

Synth Incinerator[]

Armed with an OCAP-91 Volcan, Synth Incinerators are heavily armored and will attempt to engage players at a close range and when out of range, they throw firebombs. They can be taken out easily by destroying their fuel tank.

Synth Heavy[]

Essentially a heavily armored equivalent of the Marines' 'Demolisher' class, Synth Heavies are equipped with an L59 Minigun and a 'Micro Rockets' shoulder cannon. They will make short work of enemies that aren't behind cover, and require a coordinated effort to be taken down effectively.
