"Scorched" was a Xenomorph encountered by Rain Carradine and her team of scavengers aboard the Renaissance station. The Xenomorph was artificial in origin and had a distinct appearance due to its scars.
History[]
"Scorched" was born after a Facehugger had impregnated Navarro, one of a group of scavengers that had infiltrated Renaissance station.
Shortly after its birth aboard the scavenger ship Corbelan IV, the Alien had attempted to hide somewhere and begin growing. During this growth stage it was found by Bjorn while it was in a cocoon. The crew member attempted to kill it with a shock baton. This attempt failed, with the Xenomorph taking out its tail to stab Bjorn in the eye and consequently killing him with its acid blood. The attack caused the Xenomorph to be scarred and burned, which remained visible even in its adult form. Forced to come out after being attacked, the Xenomorph left its cocoon and began stalking Kay Harrison when she tried to escape the hauler. During her escape, the Xenomorph dragged Navarro and Bjorn's corpses away. When Harrison accidently activated a security alarm in an attempt to escape, the alien became aware of her position and stalked her, piercing her in the shoulder and taking her to the nest.
It began stalking Rain Carradine, Andy, and Tyler Harrison after the group entered the Romulus lab. This was noted by Carradine, who saw the creature hiding in one of the walls outside the lab, waiting for the group to come out. When the group left through the conveyor belt and found Kay in the nest, the Xenomorph pierced Tyler's shoulder in an attempt to attack Carradine. It later dragged him to the upper part of the hive where the creature bit Harrison in the head with its inner jaw, killing him.
In an attempt to escape, Carradine deactivated the station's gravity system, escaping with Andy through the elevator shaft. A gravity purge occurred, causing Carradine to fall down the shaft, just to be picked up by the Xenomorph which grabbed her with its tail in an attempt to facilitate an attack by a facehugger nearby. Both creatures were killed by Andy, who shot them repeatedly while yelling at the Xenomorph to stay away from Carradine.
Behind the scenes[]
Special effects artists who worked on the Xenomorphs in Aliens were hired to create the creatures for Alien: Romulus,[4] relying heavily on practical effects such as animatronics and an actor wearing a suit.[5]
