The SIG Sauer P226 is a Swiss/German-made semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W or .357 SIG. It is notably used by the FBI, the United States Secret Service and the British SAS as their standard issue sidearm.
Overview
The P226 was one of two finalists in the XM9 Service Pistol Trials that sought to find a replacement for the M1911A1 in US military service, the other being the Beretta 92FS. While the Beretta ultimately won the contract, the P226 was adopted by the Navy SEALs. Numerous variants of the P226 have been introduced since its development, including the compact P228.
Appearances
In Predator 2, the P226 is used by detectives Leona Cantrell and Jerry Lambert as their duty sidearms. Jerry's pistol has a stainless steel finish and black laser sight while Leona's has a standard blued finish and a stainless laser sight. A P226 with a stainless finish is also seen in the trunk of Mike Harrigan's car.
