"Now, are you feeling disinclined too?"
"Hell no, Lieutnenant. I'm a Marine.
"
Joseph Henry and Rosemas (from Aliens: Colonial Marines)

Corporal Rosemas was a member of the United States Colonial Marine Corps. He was part of the undisciplined and insubordinate crew of the USS Melville, reputed as the "worst", to convoy toxic waste to Alphatech's Waste Disposal Facility "SunGun".

He was executed on Alphatech communication array by former SunGun head Corchiani turned into a Bugman.

Biography[]

Rosemas was part of the highly undisciplined crew of the USS Melville, whom Lieutenant Joseph Henry was recently assigned to. Their mission was to convoy toxic waste to Alphatech's Waste Disposal Facility SunGun and to transport personnel from Alphatech to a deep space communication array for a year.

When arriving in the SunGun vicinity, Henry tried to contact the facility but received no response. Fearing a problem, Henry had Sergeant Nyland wake the Marines up from hypersleep. However, as his men were disinclined and refused to gear up, Henry was forced to physically discipline them - Rosemas promptly took the hint and geared up before Henry moved onto him. Once back in line, they boarded the SunGun and explored the interior, eventually discovering that they were dealing with a Xenomorph infestation.

Rosemas was assigned with the others to secure the floor while Henry swept the operation center with Maryland and Bateman. During a sudden Xenomorph ambush, he and Koo panicked and decided to desert the team. However, the two suddenly encountered a Xenomorph and Koo opened fire. Koo was subsequently covered in acid blood as Rosemas looked on in horror as he melted into a gory pulp. Nyland caught up with Rosemas and berated him for breaking rank, using Koo's corpse as an example of indiscipline. Rosemas eventually managed to recompose himself, and he and the rest of the squad then managed to isolate themselves in the Zero-G well, waiting with the survivors until Henry, alongside Chen, Rake and survivor Dinkel purged the Tox-bay hatch, expelling all Xenos in space. The group subsequently made a safe retreat to the Melville.

In the aftermath, the Marines all congratulated their own survival, though Nyland was outraged by their naivety and lectured them before leaving.

Stopover to Bracken's World[]

"I don't care I'm gonna--"
Rosemas trying to confront Henry (from Aliens: Colonial Marines)

While Henry briefed them about the mission, Beech covertly shared some Royal Jelly with him, which he then passed down to Chen. Once on the planet, Rosemas and the group investigated a rogue signal from within in the kelp farms, and were ambushed by members of the terrorist cult, the Bug-Men, in an Alphatech listening post. He embarked on the APC that was forced to cross the kelp farms after the dropship was destroyed where they were subsequently stranded. After Carrano was killed by an aquatic Xenomorph, he and the squad were forced to keep them at bay until Nyland's dropship picked them up to the planet's main colony, Sector 1. Henry reluctantly accepted the colony governor’s request of dealing with the Xenomorphs the next day. However things go awry when acid blood started to eat through the colony's stormwall. He and the rest of the team finally managed to pin down the Xenomorph threat with the assistance of local legend, Herk Mondo, but not without ruining the colony. After the battle, under the orders of Henry, Rosemas and the others got micro-explosives planted in their necks under the guise of a medical review.

It was revealed that he, Chen and Vormitag were being given Royal Jelly by a Bug-Man prisoner, captured following the skirmish in SunGun, and the two were asked by him to kill a colonist. However, when they became hesitant, Vormitag snapped the prisoner's neck, and the Bug-Man threatened to not give them Royal Jelly anymore, alluding to the dangerous effects of withdrawal.

After Henry briefed the team about the comm array being overrun by Bug-Men, he revealed to their horror that he had implanted them with micro-bombs within their necks to prevent insubordination, Rosemas was the first to try to confront Henry, but was distracted by the Synthetic, Liston, suddenly informing them of the Melville's destruction, leaving them stranded. After arriving at the Joliet Mining Facility, where Beliveau revealed that he possessed a weapons cache hidden and a FTL capable spacecraft, Rosemas was teamed up with Chen and Cvercko. After Nyland and the Marines stocked up on their new weaponry, they took leave during a Xenomorph ambush on Beliveau's Alphatech Assaultcraft, with the Shop Steward sacrificing himself to allow the marines safe-passage out of the facility.

During the trip to Alphatech research station #2378, Rosemas began to suffer severe withdrawal, alongside Vormitag and Chen, the latter being sent to the med-bay. When Beliveau was about to reveal to the Marines the real purpose of his mission, he was suddenly shot in the back of the head by Vormitag. Rosemas suddenly suffered a psychotic breakdown and began bludgeoning him to death with a metal rod. Rosemas was restrained and taken to the med-bay.

After the Marines arrived at their ultimate destination, the Alphatech comms array, Rosemas, still in comatose state, stayed within the ship. However when the former head of the SunGun, Corchiani, turned into a Bug-Man, infiltrated the ship with Xenomorphs to rescue their captive brethren, he executed Rosemas just after he had awoken.

Equipment[]

Beyond his military fatigues, during the exploration of the SunGun facility, he donned a comm headset and an EVA suit. On Bracken's World he wore a variant of the standard issue M3 Pattern Personal Armor and an M10 Pattern Ballistic Helmet for protection. He was equipped with an unidentified assault rifle equipped with an over-and-under grenade launcher and a variant of the standard issue M314 Motion Tracker.

Personality and Traits[]

Rosemas displayed weak-willed and cowardly behavior, becoming addicted to Royal Jelly and attempting to flee from the field. He did however attempt to confront Henry following the revelation of the squad's micro-bomb implantation, though this simply may have been bravado.

Trivia[]

  • His eyes color is inconsistent throughout the series as in the first issues he has blue eyes while in the later they are brown.
