Rieser was a convict in the Forward Observation Pods on LV-1201.

Biography

Conviction

Sometime before 2230, Rieser was convicted of an unspecified crime. He was sentenced to hard labor, initially serving the Weyland-Yutani Corporation in the mining facility on Io before being transferred to LV-1201, where the Company was using convict laborers for genetic experiments. However, in October 2230 it was discovered that Rieser had several outstanding warrants on Io (or so was claimed). Michael Bishop personally requested that Rieser be transferred back to Io immediately via Gateway Station. However, likely due to the fallout from the Incident on November 25, Rieser was still in the Pods on January 6, 2231.

Death

On January 6, USCMC Corporal Andrew Harrison was placed with Rieser after being abducted by Dunya, who was seeking revenge for the death of her fiance Dimitri. Xenomorph contaminants in the Pods had led to a reduction of security in the holding cells, causing there to be only one guard present near Rieser and Harrison's cell. Rieser seized the opportunity to escape and tried to kill the guard with a knife. However, the guard reacted quickly and fatally shot him. Harrison, however, managed to acquire the knife and killed the guard, escaping from the cell.

Trivia

• It is never specified why Michael Bishop, a senior W-Y figure, would bother to personally request Rieser's transfer. Likely, the outstanding warrants on Io were not the true reason for Bishop's interest in him. It is suggested that the convicts are also used to breed Xenomorphs, but this would make a transfer through Gateway unlikely due to ICC quarantine regulations.
• Although the e-mail concerning Rieser is authored by Michael Bishop, he would be over a century old during the events of AvP2. While this is not impossible, it could also be a descendant with a similar name. The Weyland-Yutani Report states that Michael Bishop died in 2194, well before the events of AvP2.
• Rieser's character model is reused as one of the people killed on the bridge near the Primary Operations Complex in the first Marine mission.
