Richard Vance Corben (born October 1, 1940) is an American comic book painter and artist who worked on the comcis Aliens: Alchemy and Aliens vs. Predator: War for Dark Horse Comics.
A much celebrated alternative-comics artist of the 1970s and 80s, Corben is perhaps most well known in the field for his work with Heavy Metal magazine, where he carved out a particular niche for his pseudo-grotesque style of visceral painted artwork. Corben also collaborated with celebrated sci-fi author Harlan Ellison to continue the story from Ellison's well-known novel A Boy and His Dog, in the graphic novella Vic and Blood. He is also credited as being a pioneer in the graphic novel medium, with his story Blood Star sometimes called the "first graphic novel" ever made.
