- "Welcome to the Renaissance space station, the center of Weyland-Yutani research and development. The station is divided into two halves: Romulus and Remus, each dedicated to our quest to improve mankind's role in outer space."
- ―MU/TH/UR 9000 (from Alien: Romulus)
The Renaissance[1] was a Weyland-Yutani Corporation scientific research space station mainly comprised of two separate modules dubbed Romulus and Remus. The Remus module was built in 2112 whereas the Romulus was built in 2131. The Remus module hosted less advanced technology than its Romulus counterpart.[2] The station was equipped with a MU/TH/UR 9000 computer system, a Synthetic science officer named Rook, F44AA Pulse Rifles, Weyland-Yutani minitrucks, Hypersleep chamber/EEVs, breach sealing systems and defense rockets. It once had scientists and security personnel.
History[]
In 2142, the Renaissance was a bustling research facility, when the Echo 203 space probe brought the Alien aboard. Using its DNA, 36 Facehuggers (possibly a second batch) were created and stored in the Remus genetic lab and cryo chamber, with 24 left in storage. A mysterious alien pathogen was then extracted from them, and experimented with to create a mutagenic compound, Z-01, in the Romulus beta lab.
Later, due to the actions of Hyla and Adrian Kopecky, the Alien became active and killed everyone onboard before being killed. The Alien cocooned the crew in a Hive, in the Romulus module and used Facehuggers to infest the station with 34 Xenomorphs, leaving it abandoned and on a collision course with LV-410's rings.
170 days later (and 36 hours to impact), the USCSS Corbelan IV traveled from Jackson's Star to the Renaissance to steal Hypersleep chambers, for a trip to Yvaga III.
During a incident, a Chestburster began hatching from Navarro, causing her to kick the controls and crashed the Corbelan into a fuel tank and Romulus hanger bay 2, further destabilizing the station. 47 minutes later, the station (the Romulus module first) crashed into the rings and was destroyed.

- Mattos - Scientist
- Hyla - Security Officer
- Adrian Kopecky - Security Officer
Trivia[]
- The station's namesakes are references to Roman history. The Renaissance was a movement that began in Italy, whereas Romulus and Remus are figures from Roman mythology.
- In Roman myth, Romulus and Remus derived their powers from the female wolf who suckled them (which is the Renaissance emblem, present in various locations in the station). Comments from Fede Álvarez have indicated that the naming of the film/modules is referential of this, of humans deriving power from an aggressive creature (in this case, the xenomorph).[2]
- From an out-of-universe standpoint, the two modules of Renaissance represent the two different film time periods that Alien: Romulus is set between. The Remus module is symbolic of the technology of Alien, whereas the Romulus module is symbolic of Aliens. This includes the aesthetics of the modules.[2]
