The Rapid Responder was an automatic riot gun patched together by revolutionaries and used by the Union of Progressive Peoples, the United Americas, and the United States Colonial Marine Corps during the 22nd century.
Development[]
Early iterations of the Rapid Responder were cobbled together by orbital spaceport maintenance workers as a self–defense weapon against corporate security, being built from standard 20mm plumbing pipes with firing mechanisms taken from flare launchers. As common 12–gauge ammo was not compatible with the weapon, shells were individually assembled and filled with whatever was available to hand, such as ball bearings and nails; however, given that the ad hoc ammunition damaged the barrel, the guns rarely survived past a single raid. Modern production models were built to fit standard 12–gauge ammo and were far more durable.[1]
Overview[]
While the original Rapid Responder model fired shells filled with miscellaneous debris, the more commercial version fired 12–gauge rounds. The Rapid Responder was capable of rapid fire at short range, peppering the air with a mass of shrapnel and causing heavy casualties before any reaction was possible; however, it was ineffective against armored targets and at longer ranges.[1]

The first archaic models were created in 2166 by and for the Structure Support Crews Professional Association Local 571 from V1233 Tauri A. The Jĭngtì Lóng Corporation's secretarial pool on Guanyin famously seized their office tower with Rapid Responders filled with staples. The mass–produced model was used by the Union of Progressive Peoples' Space Operating Forces, private military contractors, corporate security forces, United Americas national services, and the United States Colonial Marine Corps. As the Three World Empire classified the Rapid Responder as a terrorist weapon because of its use in mass–casualty attacks, sales of it were banned in 3WE space.[1]

The Rapid Responder appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite and can be acquired from Staff Sergeant Han-jae Park for 4800 Requisition Points. It can be equipped by Technician, Doc, and Phalanx classes.[1]
