The Prowler,[1] also dubbed the Jumper,[2] was a Xenomorph caste encountered by Colonial Marines from the USS Endeavor on and around LV-895. As their name impled, prowlers pounced onto their foes, pinning them down and mauling them.

The Prowler resembled the Runner, having also emerged from an animal host, and its predominantly black mesoskeleton bore the reddish accents of the Runner caste, though these accents were of a much richer hue. The Prowler also sported a small, but conspicuous head-crest and its body appeared decently armored. Prowlers exhibited a preference for quadrupedal locomotion and lacked dorsal tubes. They also possessed the Runner's signature bladed tail.
Their resemblance to Runners may a part of the Xenomorph's combat strategy, hiding amongst the chaos of more common Xenomorphs to attack. The Prowler leaps at prey, bowling them over to then savage them with it's teeth and claws. Holding down prey, other aliens can also join in on the attack. However, it does not appear to be the strongest morph of Alien, as a human can shove it away whilst it makes this assault.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The Prowler was designated as the Xenomorph "Jumper" before the release of Aliens: Fireteam Elite.[2]
