Humans using Prometheus Tech against Predators in Neonopolis.

Prometheus Tech[1] was the term used by Borgia Industries to designate the advanced weaponry and combat equipment the company developed by reverse-engineering stolen Yautja technology. The proliferation of this technology was what drew the Yautja Scarface to Neonopolis to destroy Borgia and slay its leaders and associates.

The Promethus Tech program developed both offensive and defensive weaponry. These included advanced firearms developed from Plasmacaster technology, freeze guns, and cloaking suits based on the Yautja Cloak. These weapons and equipment were widely proliferated amongst the various criminal gangs operating in Neonopolis, and were also used by elite Borgia Industries operatives, including The Monster Squad, to capture any Yautja discovered on Earth so that they might be used as test subjects in the company's research.

  • In Greek mythology, the Titan Prometheus stole fire from the Gods and gifted it to mankind; the use of the term in the game is a reference to how the technology has been "stolen" from the Yautja. Greek history and mythology are a recurring point of reference in the Alien franchise; other notable examples include the moon Acheron, the comic Aliens: Rogue (which contains numerous references), the ships Archimedes and Anesidora, the novels Alien: River of Pain and Alien: Into Charybdis, and references to the Titan Prometheus in the film Prometheus.
