Project Ironfish was a black–ops military joint program operated between the United Americas Allied Command and the Weyland-Yutani Corporation to collect intelligence on the Union of Progressive Peoples and surveil its activities.[1]

Based on the Weyland-Yutani Corporation mining station Erebos in the 26 Draconis System, Project Ironfish involved using the electro–magnetic signals emitted by the nearby Ablassen Black Hole as a large antenna dish coupled with broad spectrum receivers to collect data and spy on nearby Union of Progressive Peoples systems.[1]
History[]
In the 2170s, the United Americas Allied Command discovered that the Ablassen Black Hole emitted the same signals as those used for Network transmissions, and contracted the Weyland–Yutani Corporation to collect data by using the phenomenon as an antenna dish. To this end, Weyland–Yutani installed broad spectrum receivers disguised as Hawking radiation sensors on Erebos station.[1]
Through the use of Project Ironfish, the UAAC learned about fleet deployments and several Ministry of Space Security black projects during the Frontier War. However, the project was terminated after it caught the attention of the UPP and MSS, and in 2185 the MSS sent the VP-153D Kremlin Class Hunter-Destroyer[1] SSV Snova Trakhnu[2] and a Space Operating Forces unit to extract two UPP spies from Erebos.[1] Erebos station was later destroyed and consumed by the black hole.[3]
