The Predator comic book line is a series of comic books published by Marvel Comics since August 2022, based on the Predator franchise.
Since their acquisition of the license, Marvel has published 2 different Predator stories, as well as 1 collected edition.
Publication History[]
False start[]
In 2019, the Walt Disney Company purchased the film studio 20th Century Fox, and with it the rights to the Alien, Predator and Alien vs. Predator franchises. As a result of the merger, the license to produce Predator comics moved to Disney-owned Marvel Comics, having previously resided with Dark Horse Comics for 30 years.
To celebrate their acquisition of Predator, Marvel launched a marketing campaign consisting of a raft of crossover comic book covers featuring many of the company's most famous superheroes coming into contact with the Yautja. Following a cooling-off period in which Dark Horse were able to complete any of their ongoing series, Marvel planned to begin publishing their first Predator comic in 2021. However, the ongoing legal battle surrounding the rights to the property between Disney and original creators Jim and John Thomas caused the comic launch to be postponed.
Premier[]
By April of 2022, the ongoing legal battle surrounding the rights to the Predator franchise came to an end, and Marvel Comics announced the release of Predator #1 with an August 10, 2022 release date.
