Pharos Spire was the Weyland-Yutani Corporation's flagship building, and main local headquarters, on the Frontier moon of Lethe. A massive skyscraper that dominated the skyline of the planetary capital of Jackson's Landing, the administrative and security personnel based out of the Spire oversaw operations throughout the capital and the rest of the system.
History[]
The Pharos Spire was constructed around the turn of the 2180s, in the aftermath of the '77 Uprising on Lethe. To speed construction, it used as a pre-built secure foundation a Y-T command bunker that had been burnt out during the revolt but which had been recognized as being ideal for its new role as part of the Spire. Ostensibly at least, the Pharos Spire was designed as the welcoming face of the Company after the uprising and as a symbol of the dawning of a new age on Lethe. By the later half of the 2190s however, the tower was seen by many people at best as a propaganda site promoting the promise of a bright future that no one on Lethe would ever see.
Overview[]
At over 500m, or 1,640 feet in height, the Spire was easily the tallest building on the surface of Lethe. This was not only a function of the tower's role as a symbol of Weyland-Yutani's power and prestige, as well as the the huge internal space and support functions needed to accommodate all the headquarters staff and their equipment in comfort including living quarters, but also from ensuring that the new headquarters would have a stable wireless network connection in addition to its satellite and cable links. There were at least three dropship pads built into the tower, one of them being the personal pad of Director of Planetary Operations Barbra Pryce. The scale of the Pharos Spire would lead some people to call it 'the lighthouse of Lethe'.
The Pharos Spire was also conveniently located close to Jackson's Landing's train station, which served as the central terminus for Lethe's vital monorail–based railway network, and which was arguably the second most important building in Jackson's Landing.
