Peter William "Pete" Postlethwaite OBE (February 7, 1946 – January 2, 2011)[1] was an Academy Award-nominated English actor who played David in the 1992 film Alien3. Other notable films Postlethwaite appeared in include The Last of the Mohicans (1992), The Usual Suspects (1995), Romeo + Juliet (1996), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) Inception (2010) and The Town (2010). Aside from his work in film, Postlethwaite had an extensive career in British television.

Postlethwaite was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (for In the Name of the Father) and four BAFTAs. In March 2009, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer,[2] from which he died at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on January 2, 2011.[1][3] Postlethwaite continued acting almost to the end of 2010, showing clear signs of weight loss during his last performances.
