- "About 30 of us have made it into the caves and went deeper than we ever did before. Shit, this place is freaky and gives us all the creeps, but at least we're safe here for now. I got through to the refuge at the Godafoss falls, it seems only a couple hundred made it in there, but at least they are safe for now too. I can only hope lots got off planet before the last rad storm hit us."
- ―Excerpt from Pablo Bengochaea's journal (from Alien: The Roleplaying Game — Building Better Worlds)
Pablo Bengochaea was a colonist at Pelican Colony on the Far Spinward Colonies planet KOI-947.01. Roughly a year prior to 2186, as the colony was struck by a cosmic event, Bengochaea abandoned his job at the Hoppipolla Lake dam and sought refuge in the nearby Skritio Caves along with several other survivors. While exploring, Bengochaea's group were accosted by members of the ancient alien species known as the Fulfremmen, and infected with a strain of a dangerous alien pathogen; all present were either killed or mutated. Bengochaea's journal was later discovered by an expedition from the United Nations Interstellar Settlement Corps' Great Mother Mission.
