- "I can't blame you for thinking that. Hell, I woulda said the same thing an hour ago. But I know what I saw -- and it weren't no made-up story. Believe you me, I wouldn't be standin' here jawin' with th' enemy if'n I didn't know that there was something a hell of a lot worse 'n yankees walkin' these woods."
- ―Jesse James regarding the Predator (from Predator: Hell Come a Walkin')
The Ozarks Hunter was a lone Yautja that conducted hunts in the mid-nineteenth century, during the American Civil War.
After a brief encounter with young bushwhacker Jesse James, he soon began stalking James and his crew, alongside a unit of Union soldiers, who ultimately allied themselves to eliminate the creature.

"Woah, now! Just 'cause Standin' Bear's a heathen redskin don't mean there ain't truth in what he says! Ain't you ever hear-tell about the traveller?" - ―Jesse James and Nebediah on Standing Bear's story (from Predator: Hell Come a Walkin')
At some point, a lone Predator arrived on Earth at an indeterminate period. He would go on to reside himself within the Ozark mountains of Missouri, and conducted hunts in the nineteenth century during the American Civil War. His hunts garnered something of an infamous reputation, and he became the basis of several superstitions and urban myths.
Ambushing the Confederates[]

- ―The Ozarks Hunter (from Predator: Hell Come a Walkin')
In the 1864, during the American Civil War, a small group of Confederate soldiers were stationed within the Ozark mountains waiting for the arrival of Jesse James and his men. As one man departs from the camp to urinate, he suddenly heard the yells and cries of his comrades. Upon returning, he was met with a massacre, and behind him, the Predator.
Skirmish with Jesse James[]
- "What's wrong Jesse?
"I seen it."
"Seen what?"
"What's been huntin' us like possums on a bright night. And it sure ain't a yankee." - ―Standing Bear and James (from Predator: Hell Come a Walkin')
James, alongside his comrades Standing Bear and Nebediah eventually reached the Confederate camp, only to witness first-hand the results of the Predator's massacre. James believed it to be the work of Union soldiers. After ambushing a passing unit of Union soldiers, who were transporting a stationary cannon, the three began discussing what possibly could have killed their men. Standing Bear told stories of a Cannibal Spirit that left its cave deep within the Ozarks and feasted on human flesh. Though Jesse was sceptical, Neb partly agreed with him, telling a story of how the Devil had allowed a mountaineer to invite him into his solitary log-cabin, slaughtering and cannibalizing him, his family and burning the cabin to the ground. Hearing enough of their ghost stories, Jesse departed from the two to check on the canon, only to notice a distant silhouette of a creature. The two locked gazes for a moment, and Jesse suddenly returned to the group in shock to notify them on what he has seen.
The Predator sends Jesse and Spartacus into a retreat.
Jesse, Neb and Bear approached the Union troops, with Jesse tensely proposing a truce to them, claiming to have seen "the devil hisself". Suddenly, a hole was blown through Bear's chest from the shot a Plasmacaster, killing him. After the Predator retreated from the gunfire, the two sides subsequently joined forces to oppose their new threat whilst it lurked in the distance, watching them.
Jesse, Neb and Spartacus explored the forestry, intent on flushing the creature out whilst the others got the canon ready. After splitting from Jesse, Neb suddenly held a gun to Spartacus, telling him not to move, before shooting a large bear behind him, saving his life. After jovially taunting Spartacus and admiring his kill, he was suddenly decapitated from behind by the Predator as Spartacus looked on in horror. Jesse and Spartacus fended the hunter off with gunfire, before retreating. The two lured the Predator into the direction of the cannon. However, it did not take the bait. Union soldier Lieutenant Hendricks ultimately sacrificed himself by goading the Predator into a melee, and having Brubaker fire the cannon at the both of them.
Death[]
The Predator is impaled by Jesse with the Union flag.
Hendricks was obliterated, but the Predator was left standing, and moved towards Dutch. As he prepared to stand off against it, it was suddenly impaled from behind with the Union flag by Jesse. The survivors looked over the dying creature, who taunted them with a "damn yankees", before being killed by James with a shot to the head.
