The Neomorph was a white Xenomorph-like creature found on a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. They were created as a result of the local ecosystem being mutated by Chemical A0-3959X.91 – 15, which caused pods to start growing on trees and the ground, releasing a spore when disturbed. Once a host was infected, the spores caused the Neomorph inside of them, the creature later erupting from the host's body (similar to a Chestburster). Shortly after their "birth", two dorsal spikes would erupt from the Neomorph (which, with their pointed skull, help them break out of their embryonic sack), and the creature would walk in a quadrupedal manner. As the Neomorph matured, they grew significantly larger, adopted a bipedal posture, and developed a slightly translucent appearance. The Neomorph was animal-like in behaviour (more so than the Xenomorph), and had fang-like teeth and a tail.[1]

Neomorphs were encountered by the crew of the Covenant, several of whom were infected by the spores, entering their bodies through ears and nostrils. Neomorphs later burst from the back of one of the infected crew members (a "backburster"), and through the throat of another.[1]
