The Molotov is a custom-made, improvised incendiary explosive that creates a field of fire upon contact with another surface. It can either be thrown, causing it to immediately explode upon impact, or placed, erupting after a hostile approaches it.

- The Molotov is one of the few weapons in Alien: Isolation (along with the flamethrower) that can force the Alien to retreat into the vents. A direct hit on the Xenomorph will cause it to head back into the vents temporarily, and the length of time it remains in the vent hinges on how frequently the player utilizes Molotovs.
