The Model CM-93D Mule was a G–class commercial ore transport vessel manufactured by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and used in offworld mining applications. One such vessel, the USCSS Corbelan IV, was used by a crew of scavengers to raid the orbital science station Renaissance in 2142. It was later used to escape the station by the survivors of a resultant Xenomorph outbreak.
Overview[]
The CM-93 Mule transported freshly mined ore from a world's surface to a waiting bulk carrier or ore refinery in space. It carried a detachable ore transport pod, which was held beneath the ship by heavy–duty clamps.
The crew areas of the ship ran along the upper spine of the ship and consisted of a forward docking airlock and suit–up area, with a connecting corridor leading to a secondary cargo bay at the rear. A ladder in this cargo section led up to the galley and bunk room for three personnel, and forward of the galley was a bridge for three crew, along with six jump–seats for the transport of technical or mining personnel as required.[1]
The modernized D version upgraded the hyperdrive for interstellar flight, as the short–ranged original version was designed only for flying to and from asteroid mines within a star system.
History[]
One Model CM–93D Mule, the USCSS Corbelan IV, was assigned to the mining planet LV-410 in the Alpheios System as of 2142. In that year the ship was used by a group of disgruntled workers to board the science station Renaissance, which had drifted into orbit around LV–410, in an effort to secure sufficient cryofuel for a journey to the world of Yvaga III.
