The Mark 7 Mod 2 CQB Pistol, alternately labeled as the Mark 7, was a machine pistol manufactured by Armat Battlefield Systems and used by the United States Colonial Marine Corps and United Americas Aerospace Force and others during the 22nd century.
Development[]
The Mark 7 project was initiated in 2162 during the Tientsin Campaign, when the need for weapons operating effectively in freefall grew. One particularly egregious incident occurred after a disastrous operation during which a rookie United States Colonial Marine Corps VBSS squad was decimated by the Union of Progressive Peoples' Ministry of Space Security operatives due to their lieutenant failing to properly mass–center his gun before firing.[1]
To ameliorate the issue, Marine Corps Systems Command issued an acquisition request for a shipboard Close–Quarter Battle automatic sidearm that could be fired single–handed in such conditions. The Weyland-Yutani Corporation's Mark 6 laser pistol almost won the contract until, near the end of the evaluation period, Armat Battlefield Systems submitted a design for a light pistol with a compact design using light and durable alloys and chambered for 10mm caseless rounds. The Mark 7 won approval in 2164, and became ubiquitous In the early 2190s, Armat issued the Mod 2, a redesign of the original Mark 7 that added a collapsible foward grip for two–handed use.[1]
Overview[]
The Mark 7 Mod 2 fired the standard United Americas 10×24mm Caseless rounds with reduced propellant. The Mark 7 possessed the ability to fire incredibly rapid bursts into small areas with a minimal recoil, and the four–round burst avoided overwhelming the user while firing. The weapon was also renowned for its stability, being comfortable to fire with both one or two hands, though this trait was limited to the Mod 2. However, the use of reduced propellant also shortened the weapon's effective range.[1]
The Mod 2 was successful among the Colonial Marines, despite some Marines' preference for the M10 Auto Pistol buly virtue of its ability to empty a magazine in two seconds flat.[1]
Notable users[]
Originally manufactured in 2164 and redesigned as the Mod 2 in the early 2190s for the Colonial Marines, the Mark 7 also saw deployment in the United Americas Aerospace Force and Orbit Guard, the Three World Empire's Flotte du Cosmos de Défense Internationale, private military contractors, and American commercial ship crews.[1]

The Mark 7 Mod 2 CQB Pistol appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite and was added as part of the Season 3 update. It can be acquired from Staff Sergeant Han-jae Park for 9600 Requisition Points and can be equipped by Technician, Doc and Phalanx classes.
