The M42A3 Sniper Rifle was a sniper rifle manufactured by Armat Battlefield Systems. It was derived from the M42A2 Scout Rifle and the successor of the M42A Scope Rifle, and was used by the United States Colonial Marine Corps, the Colonial Marines Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Service, and the United Americas during the 22nd century.

The M42A3 was developed by Armat Battlefield Systems as a long range sniper conversion of the M42A2 Scout Rifle and the original M41A Pulse Rifle by extending its barrel and equipping it with advanced optics and a stabilization feature.[1] It was the successor of the M42A Scope Rifle.[2]
Overview[]
While the M42A3 Sniper Rifle possessed incredible stopping power and high precision, these qualities were offset by immense recoil, followed by a long recovery time. During a cross–border conflict with the Union of Progressive Peoples in 2193, an EVA–suited Marine, equipped with a M42A3 and magnetically slung to a space station's exterior hull, managed to destroy several UPP dropships by hitting their exposed vitals with the weapon.[1] The M42A3 could also be fitted with a suppressor to eliminate noise and muzzle flash.[2]
Notable users[]
Originally manufactured and issued in 2179 for the United States Colonial Marine Corps and the national services and special forces of the United Americas, the M42A3 was assigned to Surveillance and Tactical Acquisition Platoons under the aegis of the Colonial Marines Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Service following its creation in 2188. The rifle also saw service with private military contractors, corporate security teams, and freelance assassins.[1]

The M42A3 Sniper Rifle appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite and can be obtained from Staff Sergeant Han-jae Park for 4800 Requisition Points. It can be used by Gunner, Demolisher, Recon and Doc classes. The M42A3 also appears in Aliens: Dark Descent, in which it can be purchased from the workshop for 100 materials. It can be used by Recon Marines at Level 3 and above.
