The M42A2 Scout Rifle was a dedicated marksman rifle manufactured by Armat Battlefield Systems. Adapted from the M41A Pulse Rifle, it was used by the United States Colonial Marine Corps, the Office of the Colonial Marshals, and the United Americas during the late 22nd century.

The M42A2 Scout Rifle was developed by Armat Battlefield Systems as a dedicated marksman conversion of the original M41A Pulse Rifle. The conversion gave the weapon more range, precision, and a reduced recoil while still providing a decently–sized magazine.[1]
Overview[]
Regarded as a specialist tool, the M42A2 was a lightweight, long–range, semi–automatic marksman rifle requiring advanced training to be used. The weapon earned its high reputation in 2181, when sharpshooters from Colombia's Fuerzas de Seguridad Terrestre Antiterroristas managed to keep entire city blocks in Bogotá's Céntrica Arcologia locked down during a week–long terrorist insurgency.[1]

The M42A2 was originally manufactured and issued in 2172 for the United States Colonial Marine Corps and United Americas national services and special forces such as the Colonial Marines Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Service. The rifle also saw service with the Office of the Colonial Marshals and private military contractors.[1]
